The first superhero movie of 2017 made a landing this weekend, and what a landing it was. All the clever marketing has finally paid off. We know it will do wonders with sales, but how was the movie? Really?

The Dark Side

To be truly happy all one needs to do is smile

The movie is a fun roller coaster ride that that has you ripping in stitches in one moment and holding back the flood gates the next. Let’s me frank here, this isn’t your typical Batman flick. This isn’t your typical Batman to be honest and that’s a good thing.

Like its predecessor the animation is vibrant and brings the Lego world to life then fills that world with characters which are just as colourful. It’s like Lobster Thermidor for the soul. For me the breakout star is Robin, whose innocence results in big comedic payoffs. The relationship of Batman and Robin is at the very heart and centre of this movie but a Batman movie without Joker is never really a Batman flick, and the clown prince is a major player here too.

This is a movie for all ages, a fun escapism that gives us a glimpse into a day in the lifer on a very lighter version on our dark knight. (see what I did there)

Lets get Groovin’

Not So Dark Side

The movie does have some dry moments in which the Bat puns feel forced.Misses the opportunity to use Mark Hamill as the voice of the Joker. Look I am not saying Zack was bad, I am saying Mark would have been better.

While the movie is excellent, the best scenes have already been given away by the trailers.

Which Side of Two-Faces coin does the movie rest?

The movie is clearly a winner, but its hard to make a Batman movie that is bad (and for that Joel we applaud you). I hope there is a sequel and it’s small short coming are addressed.

Brick by brick Warner Bros animation division seems to be building a dynamic world which is rich with both familiar characters and entirely new ones. It’s blend of humour and heart makes this as

The possible result of lab experiment gone horribly wrong, a real life Anti-Hero with all of the sarcasm/attitude and non-of-the superpowers. Still tears up each time he sees Arnie lowered into the molten metal. Thinks he is super funny… others beg to differ. Was going to live his life ¼ mile at a time until he converted it to the metric system… and would choose the red pill every time. Driven by Dreams and Fuelled by Passion.
