What follows is a basic review for all of you fighting the data struggle and can’t watch the video above.
Now let me start of by saying that this is such an incredibly beautiful statue that I had to review it twice. So thanks to both Project Mayhem and Cosmic Comics for letting me fool around with this statue.
Showcasing the clown princess of criminal mirth in all her comic-book inspired glory, this new entry by Kotobukiya is one of the figures I have been most excited about this year.
As always with statues, we will consider the Two A’s ie Aesthetics and Aish-Factor.
This statue is a slight departure from the new 52 inspired statues we have been seeing from Kotobukiya over the last few years and showcases a very aesthetically pleasing Harley Quinn in her original comic book costume.
I was thoroughly impressed by the fact that the details and overall look rivals some of the best we have seen out of the Bishoujo line.
The face sculpt is particularly impressive with subtle painted makeup details that you normally wouldn’t expect in a “cheaper” offering like this.
The statue itself boasts some nice sculpted details, including the folds and riffles of her costume.
In keeping with eh costume, I like the glossy paint finish across the costume as it simulates the latex leotard the character is famous for. The mallet also has some decent dry brushing and light weathering effects across it.
The base is a slight departure from the usual magnetic bases we see with ArtFX+ statues. It is too early to determine is this is the new direction for Kotobukiya or not. Still it works nicely with eh statue so no complaints there.
This is the Harley we know and love and is one of the more aesthetically appealing and satisfying statues we have seen recently.
AISH! – Factor
I have previously lamented of the general price of Kotobukiya statues recently. Still this isn’t a badly priced piece.
I have been waiting for this particular statue since it was first announced and I have not been disappointed.
While it is light on accessories and doesn’t have bells some of the bells and whistles I usually go for, it is undoubtedly a splendid display piece that is a must have for fans of the character.
Between the phenomenal sculpt, superb execution and reasonable price point this statue rates a pudding packed “AAAAIIIIISSSSHHHH!!!”
